Could anyone tell me the procedures if you lose your passport while in Northern Cyprus

Procedure 1 is to look for it, if you can't find it:

go to the BHC in Nocosia, they can issue emergency travel doc.

After you have followed Brians sensible advice.....relax pour yourself a large drink and hope it takes a long time to get a replacement!!!!

Brian could you tell me where the BHC is...Do I have to go back to the uk to get a replacement. Will I have to apply for my residency again...I think I need that drink.

Speak to the police first thing you do so they can circulate it in case of identity theft and check found property. Then contact the British embassy: http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en

sorry, never been there, but someone will post.

I am sure if you go to immigration in Nic they will be able to put a new stamp in passport.

Lesson for all here, photocopy or scan importnant pages of your passports, like visa pages etc, and keep a copy of the personal info page.

Might come in useful.

Got a copy of my passport just not the residency bit. Wil go to Police station now. Does anyone know if Ishould go to local or Girne.

Go to Lefkosa, onto the hospital road, keep going till you come to a big crossroads with traffic lights, the big Un (flour factory) is on the right hand side, go right at these lights keep going past Califoria Resturant then you will come to a very small round-a-bout straight across that and the embassy is about 50 metres on the right, don't ake your mobile in there as your not allowed

my son lost his passport last year, had to get a police report number first , then go to bhc , got his emergency travel documents , cost was £ 80

You can get one here but it takes about a week to ten days

Had ours stolen in Spain 2003... Removed safe from wall... Nobody interested...

Just apply for a new one

hopefully it will be found.

i did notice that on the crossing to the south they scrutinised our passports recently.

they usually just wave us through.
