Has anyone had dental implants work carried out in TRNC - if so - how was the treatment? How much roughly did it cost? and how does it compare to work carried out in UK? I have been advised that I need such treatment in UK but thought about whether it would be less expensive in TRNC.

Yes just Had two new front teeth (Capped) done at SMILE dentist just over a week to do as she had to send them back to the technition for a slight alteration but they came back and they are really very, very good. Expensive???? Only if you don't have the money to pay. But because I do not know the cost of similar treatment in the UK I cannot judge. Cassius on Rowans log in

I had an implant done, canine tooth. It took 2 months, there were some procedures to be followed. First openning up a place in the gum, replacing a piece of metal inside the gum to hold the implant for later on. That piece of metal needs to stay in the gum to for some period of time. Then the implant is fitted. Cost is not a lot, 2000tl

Surely a cap is not the same as an implant. I know I would rather have an implant than a tooth on a plate, but not sure I could afford too many of them. sorry Oceana, but to me 2000tl for one tooth is a lot of money - it is more than a month's salary for the average worker. But if one has the money to choose to have whatever one chooses, then I know there are people here who are up to the task. Actually i was quoted less than 2000tl per tooth, but as I don't need them yet, I espect by the time I might, they will be about 5000tl per tooth - or maybe a lot less as prices could come down, just like the prices of big TV screens. But come on guys who HAS had implants here?

Marion you are correct a 'cap' also known as a 'crown' and is NOT the same as having implants, there are dentists now in the Uk that are charging from £395 per tooth for implants so its not as expensive as it used to be. Having said that i have been to the dentist in TRNC and found the equipment to be far more superior than in some dentists in the Uk and prices to be a little bit cheaper than the private sector in Uk.

I have recently returned from Bucharest, Romania, after having superb dental treatment. This consisted of: Four exrtactions - one was a 'Wisdom' tooth. The other three were difficult extractions, as these teeth had crumbled and broken off level with the gum. The three were where top quality implants are to be fitted at the end of September. One must allow an interval of at least one month for the gum to contract and heal. In addition to this, the dentist strengthened the tooth [next to the 'Eye' tooth] to which the implants will be attached with a Titanium rod in the root. He also did five complicated fillings - three from the back of three front teeth in order to strengthen them. This was all topped off with a complete scale and clean. Total cost: €275-00 There will be no further cost when I return for fitting of implants - metal + porcelain, he recommends, as porcelain is more expensive, but weaker than the combination.

Just to fill in - sorry for the comment - my UK dentist has stated that one tooth implant in UK/London is around £1200 to £1500 - I asked whether there would be a reduction if you had say two or three done (job lot price!) but he couldnt tell me he would have to refer to another dentist who specialises in them. I thought it might be worth my while to shop around as I need several done and it does add up. Combining the treatment with trip as we do have our own accommodation in N Cyprus. It looks as though, from your comments, that is what I should do. Many thanks for your help.

I friend of mine went to my dentist in Girne (wonderful man) re implants as he couldn't afford them in UK. He was delighted with response he got from my dentist so much so that's he's coming back in October to have 4 maybe 5 implants done. I can't be absolutely sure but I think he was quoted 1000tl per tooth. My friend has dentalphobia (or whatever it's called) but felt copletely relaxed, hence the fact that he's coming back in October to actually have the work done. BTW, you might have to pull a bit a face with the first quote!! It's well worth it, having had 9 caps or crown done by him.

Yes, Bondi, I think you can trust this place to give you a good deal. there are expderts around in many fields (very different to even, say, a decade ago); the prices are lower and the standards are high. Look at it logically. Someone does a bad job - everyone gets to know it - reputation takes anose dive - the 'someone' gets no more work! This is a small place, so standards are maintained that way.Go for it. Incidentally, referring back, I have a crown/cap on a front tooth. been there from the age of 15 when I fell on solid concrete and broke my tooth (three times - a bit more each time). I could do with a replacement and I would trust it to be done here, but at the moment haven't got the time or money - but the quotes I have are far less than U.K

My sister in law had implants done a few years back when it was quite a new thing in the UK. She has now had to have major dental work done again because they were not done correctly. Go somewhere that has been around for a while and is not new to these implants. The cost of fixing this when it goes wrong is massive.

It's more likely to be €1000 per implant in TRNC - not 1000TL! My friend is in the process of having 3 implants - he's had the extractions - now he must wait the necessary interval before fitment of implants. I will be sticking to my Romanian dentist - thank you very much!

Many thanks for your advice and comments - like many people I suffer from "School dentist" syndrome - it took ages for me to go voluntarily to see a dentist following those days, hence, the state of my teeth now - but its now got to this - so I shall be coming out next month to follow up the advice. I have to say - following other comments on this website - that whenever I have posted a thread for advice on something or other I always get a good response from 44ers so thanks.
