| Hello all, In 2008 my father passed away and left my brother and I a property in the TRNC. At the time of making his will he named an advocate as executor. In 2009 I travelled to North Cyrpus to meet with the advocate and open the will. He didn't attend the arranged meeting, and subsequent attempts to meet with him during our visit were unsuccessful. Eventually we managed to have the will read and filed in the law offices in Kyrenia by a colleague of his. We did not meet with the advocate throughout the duration of our stay, despite his knowing that this was the sole purpose of our visit. I have not received any update on the status of the probate. I have tried to contact him via email and phone. Initially I received empty promises to complete the probate, and more recently he has stopped answering my emails and phone calls altogether. As im sure you can imaging this whole issue has been very stressfull and upseting for my family, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated |

| Without knowing who your advocate is, it is difficult to comment on this. It is, I understand, possible to get your current executor to resign - that is assuming that you can get in touch with him! You could then make yourselves executors. If you get an advocate to wind up the estate be sure to ask at the outset how much this is going to cost as lawyers fees for this here are a complete rip off. In addition to his fee, bear in mind that there will a load of other miscellaneous charges applied for stamping documents, government fees etc etc. Feel free to e-mail me if I can be of assistance as I have recently gone through this one. |
