| There will be an excavation of a turtle nest tonight, Saturday 27th August. The baby turtles will be released into the sea when it is dusk. Meet at Guzelyali Restaurant at 6.30pm, Karsiyaka beach. Everyone is welcome. |

| In some nests, all of the baby turtles come out and make their way to the sea in darkness. However there are others, where a few come out at night, and we then excavate them during the day. This prevents them coming out onto the beach in the high temperatures of the day, where they would die of dehydration. We have found dead baby turtles that have been only a few cms from their nest. We just try to give every turtle the chance to overcome all the initial 'hurdles' of it's first few hours of life. |
