I am guessing this is the post you mentioned elsewhere, I can't definitively answer this post and I am really not sure anyone can but I have only ever heard one rumour of a person being deported from North Cyprus and as it turned out I became very good friends with a family member of the person accused of the deportation, it was all, as expected codswallop. This country is not in the middle ages as some would like us to believe, the justice system as well as the governmental documantation system is developed from the UK system established in the 60's although unfortunately the finances are not there to update it as most of the expats would wish. Irony is, the locals are on a much better deal with thier government that any IK citizen is and the blame is layed at the feet of the TC political regime of the day.

Ask yourself this, why would the TURKISH republic of North Cyprus send you to Turkey?

I read an article in a British womans monthlymagazine a few weeks ago about a woman who was deported from North Cyprus because she had Hepititis C. She had applied for residency and the blood text showed up that she had this. She had been unaware that she might have it. She was taken to jail for one night and then put on a flight to Turkey, I think. The article is only a few weeks old, and was in one of either of these magazines.

I am sure that more knowledgable people than myself out there who would correct me but when travelling south I believe that if the goods you are carying are second hand and that is obvious, you should not be charged for import. If however they are in the original boxes and look new it could be an issue if they check, I would add that I have never been checked going south except at the Pyla (for the perfectionists, I don't remember the proper name but it is what is says on goole maps) crossing and all they seemed to be interested in were cigarettes.

Yeah i got the hep c story from this forum,i dont think i have any std's myself but it goes to show what can happen, what happens if someone starts on you and you defend yourself it could be anything.

I could put the satalite box unboxed in my suitcase and i dont think duty on an un boxed tv will be much,my worry would be if i decide to stay and i buy a lot of kit nice car maybe even build a villa, what are my rights in the worse case scenario being deported.

re 6:

As it's ( the crossing point ) in the village of Pergamos (Greek: Πέργαμoς, Turkish: Beyarmudu ) it's not being 'perfectionist' - merely correct..

πύλη aka Pyla / Pile - sorry don't know how to make the Turkish 'i' to make the eee sound :( - is the next village to the south where you cross to and from the SBA area to a the UN buffer zone and onwards to the 'rump' RoC.

Don't know why so many folk call it the "Pyla crossing point" - perhaps they can't pronounce the GR / TR words ? ..

There are those campainging for the lady to be allowed back now that her medical condition has been dealt with. as to deportation, there was a family a couple of years back who were deported. if I remember correclty, their passports were retained until they were put on a plane out of Ercan. reasons for their being deported were given, but there were other stories.

But why does anyone talk of being deported if they know they are obeying the laws of the land?

and of course, it is always dangerous to surmise what may be done, especially as the situations here can change so quickly. I guess the message is to keep your 'nose' clean and not to have to worry about it, as it is not a very pleasant thing to undergo.#Incidentally, I knew two people who were deported from the south when I lived there (pre EU days!)

Mark, I said I didn't remember, to anyone else that would have been acceptable, as usual you need to be corrective to the point of being a cubic zirconium formed in a human sphyncter.

I have tried very hard to advise you to stop playing on this forum the way you do but I suppose you are determined to prove that you know more than anyone else about what will happen in the future.

The last piece of viable advice I can give you is this, a sniper can only afford to take a few shots before moving to a new position, there are no famous stories about snipers who stayed in the same patch beyond the recognition and trace point.

If you do not have an impregnable bunker to attack from, you should never stay in a fixed position.

OK, too many miltary analogies, take them as you choose but I would honestly suggest you take them, soon.

Re: Anastacia, Message 5.

The lady you refer to in your message was not put in jail. I know "you" never said it, but I wanted to make things clear.

The Police came to her property and explained the situation. She said she had already booked a flight from Larnaca in a few days time. They asked which crossing point would she be leaving from and left.

No jail time. I believe the police felt very bad, but they were only doing their job.

This is where it all goes wrong. What is wrong with the information given? Nothing so why do you have to get all aggressive. Read it for what it is, a statement of facts, ask yourself if anyone else had written it would you have fount it necessary to refer to it as a snipe?

Stelee77...I tried , in the past, to give you some advice and you through it right back at me(Sylvie in the picture) and took the p..s along with a couple of others.

If you are talking about straightforward deportation because in the eyes of the police you have/will have contravined any law in NC that requires you to be deported, i.e no effort or papers to apply to reside in NC, then yes, you will removed from NC without access to any of your belongings, because by the time you have been through a process that warrants you to be deported you would be either in a police cell or prison.

If, in your case, you are a UK citizen you will be escorted to and on the aeroplane and any costs to deport you will be sort after from any other source before you board. Be also aware that the Foreign Office would have been informed and any talks/negotiations would have taken place also, with the British High Commission...............continued

If you are of Turkish origin you will be deported back to Turkey and make note, it will be in a 4 x 4 cage and you will have no access to anything, not even someone to talk to. This is all supposition and until you commit an offence that warrants you to be deported and it is a process you would go through, then every case can be different.

If you wish to make a comment regarding this, then please talk to me(Sylvie in the picture) and by the way, for anyone who also wishes to pass comment then please talk to me and not make any assumptions.

Msg. 12 Marion, I think the case you are referring to were a couple (somewhere down your part of the world I think ) - no work permits etc who were deported and were about to be stuck on a ferry to Turkey. There was such a backlash that we asked to BRS to intervene (the couple were not members of the BRS btw but they helped on this one occasion) and managed to delay their return by 48 hours, so that some cash could be got together and some friends bought them two single tickets on a plane out of Ercan.

The people involved had been living and working here in odd jobs for a long time and it was only a matter of time before the Immigration bods caught up with them.

Thanks for that reply,so if you was deported either way you would lose the stuff that you cant fit in a suitcase, car house ect.

Tango 1 - yes, that couple with whom I am still vaguely in touch. I knew a bit about the case, but the one thing that I found difficult is that they were not alone in what they were doing and yet they are the ony ones deported/castigated. Why? Can't answer that, I know. also I was told that they were a RGary Robb victim too, so if true they really DID lose out.

the cases in the south I knew were of a different ilk. Both were girls having affairs with men whose wives (understandably) did not like it, and they used the force of those they knew to get the girls off the island. Nasty, but true. So, what is the truth behind any happening? Difficult to know, isn't it.

and that is the moment when you lose your 'friends'.

have a nice day and keep dancing to the proper tunes!

Stelee77... its all hypothetical as you are trying to understand what would happen. If you find/have found yourself in a situation that warrants deportation you would already be in a system, i.e. jail or police station cell where you would have left your belongings behind, i.e. house, car, personal belongings. Lets also remember here, that if you are taken to the Police station and put in a cell you are not even allowed, toothpaste, toothbrush, drinks, deodorant etc. So your belongings back home become insignificant. I would say you would have to get friends to take over for you were you ever to find yourself in that situation.

I reiterate again to you that by the time that situation has arisen, the Foreign Office, British High Commission would be involved and the means as to how your deportation would be funded would be considered. It does not end in NC it begins again in the Country you are deported to and who will take responsibility for you. So best to abide by rules good luck.
