In Kent this week two men have been arrested for an arson attack which killed a 22 year old woman and her son of 15 months. Three other people in the house are in hospital with injuries, one in a life threatening condition. It seems that every day now there are murders being committed in the UK and it can not be in dispute that it is worse now than it was 20-30-40 years ago. Do you think that the return of capital punishment should be debated ? Most will say that it can never be returned or that the ' human rights ' charter would forbid it BUT if it was found that a huge majority were in favour would it be reinstalled ?

Do you think that the return of capital punishment should be debated ? Only in a democracy. I asked this of my MP when I lived in the UK, he was in favour. He told me it will never be debated because too many people would be in favour, and it wasn't what the Gov wanted. It also doesn't comply with EU law (remember the country does not beolng to the peolpe any more) and so th UK could not impliment it as Brussels would not allow it. Democracy eh? a fine institution, just don't give it to the people.

Capital punishment should be implemented not debated, in todays culture a persons life is not considered to be of importance.

No EU nation can HAVE capital punishment on their statutes if they wish to join the 'club' ..not sure how the UK got in, then - as I BELIEVE killing a Monarch is still listed as a capital offence..(?!)

Capital punishment is unlikely to make it on the statute books again, but the immediate re-instatement of CORPORAL [cane & birch - OK, not the 'Cat 'O Nine Tails'!] punishment needs 'rubber stamping' immediately, without any national referendum!

Why should anything not be debated ? If you agree that capital punishment should be reintrodeced then sign the e-petition calling for it. Mind you the chances of succeeding are small as most people will sit on the fence. Whilst that is most uncomfortable it seems preferable to actually making up their minds ! And of course the so liberal human rights lobby care more for the transgressor than the victim !

I feel that right from wrong needs to be taught and thrashed into most people, then it may well stay with them for the rest of their lives. A good fear of doing wrong is the only way ! Spider,X

Do you think that the return of capital punishment should be debated ? By whom, people like you. In my opinion, people such as you, who believe in an eye for an eye, should be taken out and shot. T
