I am flying into Pafos next month , spending 4 days in the Republic of Cyprus , then crossing to the north and staying 88 days in Kyrenia before flying back to UK via Pafos . Have been told today because Republic of Cyprus still view Cyprus as the whole island , I could have a problem when I exit Pafos in January having exceeded my stay by 2 days in total, even though I spent nearly the whole time in the North . Is a fine likely ....does anyone have any experience of this type of problem ? Appreciate any advise .

Hi dicky, You don't need a visa for Republic of Cyprus. When you cross over to the TRNC, you do. Ask for 90 days on the "White Visa Slip" This will cover you for your 88 day visit to the TRNC. Hope this helps. Navek

I have a British passport. I know i do not need a visa , but if total time from arriving in Pafos to leaving is 92 days , will that not represent an overstay in the eyes of the ROC , ?

You are a British citizen and as such are free to stay in the ROC for as long as you wish. In any event your passport will be inspected but not stamped on arrival. Absolutely no reason to worry.

It could represent an overstay. British passport holders, as the rest of the EU are usually entitled 90 days stay without a residency permit or visa extension. You may be questioned to why you overstayed, and you may explain that you were not certain that your visa (90 days) was a general stay for the WHOLE island, and thought that the 90 days stayed in TRNC was a separate visa. On the other hand, the passport control officer in Paphos may not realize your stamps, and may not make any deal about it. In order to avoid future issues, maybe you should consider flying out of Ercan airport. Best of luck.

re post 6 A British passport holder does not have their passport stamped on arrival in the ROC and does not require a visa of any description. You are being alarmist by suggesting that they might be "questioned" about overstaying and should consider flying out of Ercan. In any event I'm not sure what "stamps" you think the passport officer in Paphos will be looking for since there will be none for entry to the ROC. As stated already there is absolutely no reason to be worried about this.
