We are living in the UK but would like to either get married in TRNC next Oct or use our local Registry office (in UK) and have our marriage blessed in North Cyprus. We have an idea for a venue but just need some advice on the legal side of things.

Thanks Nicky

Yes Teresa will help you. If you get married in TRNC then go for a wedding planner definitely, because there are legal things to be done. If you just want a blessing then there is church or secular! And nolegal stuff to be done.

so, do the legal here and have a blessing - legal work involved here.

or , do the legal work in U.K and to to Registry Office, then come out here for a blessing with no legal work to be done this end.

Teresa will help you, or you have another planner at the top of this page, plus there are others too, BUT talk to Teresa as she has talked to you.

And congrats on just the idea of sharing your love and commitment on the island of love. it is a great place. Oh, and do share with anyone your idea of a venue as those with experience will be able to comment on it for you.

Thanks both. Teresa I will email and Marion thank you. I am just waiting for our preferred venue to confirm as we want to have our ceremony somewhere specific and meaningful to us. For both of us it is the second time around and North Cyprus has some amazing memories for us both.

Thanks again to you both. The more I read the more I think it will be legal stuff here and blessing there x

Hello Nicky,

We had our Wedding Blessing Party in the Kybele Restaurant in Bellapais on Friday evening, and would highly recommend it as a venue. If you would like any other advice on organising your Blessing, send me an e-mail (eddie_burt@yahoo.co.uk ).

Cheers,

Eddie

Hi Nicki

My wedding was organised by northsmallevents and took place in June. They managed all my paperwork and locations down to the last detail. We had our blessing in a small renovated church in the village of Dogankoy and this had been beautifally decorated (including chair covers and flowers). Our evening reception was held at Efendi's and between Paula and Incilay's planning and Andy's fabulous nighttime venue it was made a day and night to cherish.

All details can be left in Paula and Incilay's capable hands this included: accomodation for all our guests in private villa's, clothes pressed before ceromony and my dress dry cleaned after, favours and a small get together after the ceromony including drinks and canapes at one of the villa's.

I hope this helps but please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like more info altcourse97@hotmail.co.uk

North Cyprus small events arranged all my paper work so that I was married in the morning in the TRNC then had my blessing in the local church in the afternoon, and it did not cost me any more than the registry office in England and the blessing in Northern Cyprus done separately. Again please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.Ring me at 07949050515 Mandy ,Happy to help in any way I can.

You definitely do not need a wedding planner if you are just having a blessing it is so easy to do yourself.

I would suggest you contact Korineum golf club wonderful venue and they will do everything for you.

More importantly they don't charge for the service just the reception.

The money you save will pay for an extra guest or two.

Look to the advert at the top of the page and just read her testimonials.

Good luck with your big day...

I may also check back with you all who are in Cyprus last week in October for a weather check. I know nothing is guaranteed but may give me an idea for next year

hi Nicky,

I also just had my wedding in TRNC in Sept which was organised by northcyprus small events. We were married at the local registry office then had blessing at Dogankoy church. Paula and Incilay were brilliant and decorated the church beautifully. Both my husband and I were overjoyed with the day and would recommend them to anyone. They would organise just a blessing if you chose to marry in the UK and also everything else you would need to make it special.

Pity you don't show your e mail address Nicky or I would love to write to you, as I guess a lot of people above would. But it seems you have decided on legalities, and also venue so much of your original request is dealt with. I think I know what it might be. I am just a good mind reader!!!!!

Marion I am happy to email you if you would like. I don't share my address on forums like this as of course businesses use them for sharing their businesses (rightly so) but I prefer to read this on here rather than on my personal email. The forum has been really useful for clarifying what my partner and I want in relation to the legalities and the blessing and as you can see people are still suggesting venues. this is of course really useful info for others who may be reading the posts and haven't decided on their venue. we have decided on ours and if they are unable to accommodate us then it will be our villa. so where we are so far is - Teresa has been in touch and has been helpful. we are waiting for venue to confirm and then we will be hopefully organising a blessing for the last week in October 2012.

it's a very relaxed affair for us - perhaps too relaxed for some but what is most important to us is the venue and the blessing everything else will be easy

What a lovely thought, Nicky, that all the other suggestions could help others. I like that! Actually this forum can be extremely helpful at times, and it is that helpfulness that helps to overlook some of the 'darker' postings.

As to your ceremony, I think you are in good company over here. many folk go for the 'relaxed' as well as the joyful, and as this is the island of Love, then there is little room for stuffiness.

glad you are getting all the help you need, but if you need a weather report for the last week of october this year, will be happy to send one. Mind you, the world's weather is changing so nothing is guaranteed, but this place is pretty reliable.

Hope you get the venue of your choosing, as I feel that is important, but I reckon you should be O.K. I wait to hear, with (almost) bated breath.

Incidentally, how do you get those smiley faces on here??????

Didn't you read my post 'its easy peasy to do it yourself' save money.

When the majority of the people here got married -did you use a wedding planner? No you did it yourself.

What has the world come to, it will be funeral planners next

Wedding planners to me are in the same bracket as used car salesmen accountants and bookmakers.

But if you chose that course I have heard nothing bad about any of the ones that advertise here.

Marion - thanks and smiley faces happen by typing colon : dash - and closed bracket ) . open bracket should give you a sad face.

Hippo, of course I read your post. and thanks for the advice. your opinion on the use of wedding planners is fine but I don't want to have to do certain things myself and I know that some venues will do everything for you but I am not choosing one of those so would like someone in the country who can sort a couple of things out for me. and if that is then service I choose to use I will of course be happy to pay for the convenience of not having to do it myself.

Thanks to everyone for their posts so far. Nicky x

Hippo - Who really wants the stress of having to worry about whether the flowers have arrived, the cars are picking up people, that all the legalities are in place (espeically somewhere like North Cyprus) etc on their wedding day, that's what a wedding planner can help with

Nickytoo - if you haven't made a decision yet on a wedding planner, My Wedding Cyprus can help with as much or as little as you would like: http://www.myweddingcyprus.com

Thanks Cazleo. I have my planner now

Now I am looking forward to a north Cyprus wedding blessing in 12 months time!

Here's the plan so far for anyone interested:

quick registry office thing here in UK - no guests (only required witnesses)

Fly out to TRNC

Rooftop blessing with champagne reception and 3 course meal (Turkish theme NOT roast Sunday lunch) For 20 close family and friends.

Party at villa in evening

Own flowers. Daughter is photographer. Venue two mins from villa so no cars needed.

And with the wind in the right direction and all fingers crossed that's it sorted

Sounds good. And i think you have chosen a pathway that will give you peace of mind, and that is what it is all about. Choosing what you want, how you want, with whom you want. there is now quite a lot of choice over wedding planners, venues etc, but as you live near to the venue it is slightly better than coming somewhere you don't know.

Do write to me when you can, but I am so glad to hear tha tyou have really got it all buttoned up Oh, and as for your last comment, I hope for your sake there is NO wind!

Blessings for your blessing!

I agree with you Hippo. Its a waste of money. Just organised my own wedding with no problems and much much cheaper than a wedding planner. No stress no problems!!!

Guess it is all down the choices in the end. If someone wants a wedding planner then it is nice for them to know who is around to enable them to cmpare. and if they don't want one, then they don't have to have it. It is a bit like shopping - it ll depends on how much it is worth to the buyer.
