Hi Racoonchic

I don't suppose you could send a picture to solic200@hotmail.co.uk as I see you are located in Esentepe and I am in Lapta.

Is it a large or small size full face or half face?

Cheers

Please don't just go for the cheapest just for having a helmet, because the law now is in force.Remember, the most vulnerable part of your body is your head.

I had an accident last year and the only undamaged part of my body was my head.I have since bought a new one and binned the other since once a helmet hits the curb it becomes an ornament.

I'm in agreement with Yorg. Not just because what he states is perpectly sensible but because I have been riding bikes for along time - and had two very nasty (to watch anyway) falls.

I have used open-face and full-face helmets in very very hot and very very cold (!) temperatures - once testing (involuntarily) what that chin cover on a full-face is for.

In very hot climates like Cyprus you will not be very comfortable in a full-face but you simply must protect your chin/nose with at least a chin bar that some open-face helmets have attached. That way you get a cooling breeze whilst moving.

As a person who has fallen both on the side of his head and also flat on his face after hitting a car and being thrown over the bars AND the bonnet of a car I can only plead that you never ever buy a second hand helmet - you cannot be sure whether it has been used (yes, they are single use only ) or accidentally dropped. Also helmets only have a 5 year integrity life - need replacing the

if it had been used or involved in an accident.. wouldnt there be obvious damage.. this is a genuine question not a critisism . i have never seen a helment with a chin bar in the trnc.. for sale or being used.

the helmet I had on at the time of my accident last year has only got very minor scratches on it which can easyly be put down as wear and tear.

I now have virtualy one of the best on the market BOXER,with a flip up obtion purely because I still struggle to have full face on all the time.Flip up in towns and down it goes when out town.

and remember,it is not YOU you should worry about, its the inconsiderate drivers...................

A tip from an old biker, never buy an helmet that has been in an accident, even if it only fell from the seat to the road. They are only guaranteed for one impact, even a slight one. I have a "Shark" full face with demister. Never been knocked. Cost me about £180 just before I packed in biking in 2004 when I hit 60. That's years not mph.

Still got it somewhere, in a carry bag. Back in TRNC this Wednesday, don't intend fetching the "Shark" unless you want it, for the price of the excess baggage. If you want it I hope you are a serious biker, I wore this on my Kwak at 170mph on the M62 from Barton. (that's mebbe why I packed it in)If you want it, complete with insect collection, reply.

ps hope this doesn't put a stop on your help with my new licence Zorgozlu.

Thanks for the offer but since my last accident my wife does not like me riding my bike and in all honestyI can't dissagree with the amount of inconsiderate drivers here.

I have since bought myself(from uk) a new boxer, only worn it twice, and now can sell it to anyone interested. The cost for a new one here is around 500 euros.

I also have couple of small, full face that I had bought for my wife and they have hardly ever been used................................along with my customised kawasaki vn 1500,2001,around 30000 miles on the clock from new and ktm 450 sx-f,2008

I'll await to hear from you.

will most likely see you when I get over, Yorgozlu, would love to see the bikes.

My wife never liked me riding either. I was only off work once through a biking accident. Was during the Isle of Man TT in about 2000. 5 weeks with twisted chest muscles. Don't usually tell people I was doing less than 10 mph

Ran the bike onto the roadside verge, hit a three inch high stump and went out the side door and landed on my back. Once my mates had checked the bike they stood and laughed. Got back to UK two days later and doctor put me on sick. He laughed too when I told him what had happened and how come it hurt so much, his reply

"you're not 22 anymore, Mr Ford, it's all downhill from here"

Packing up now so no more web until I see Nethouse.
