Does anyone know where I can get proper Turkish lessons? I want to take it quite seriously and the belediye run lessons in Catalkoy didn't seem to suit me, both in terms of the lesson times and the course content. I've learned languages before (I lived in France for six years), and so I've got an idea of how lessons should be. Is there a reputable school in Kyrenia or Nicosia that does lessons? Any ideas gratefully accepted.

I friend of mine made enquiries and like you he wanted "proper" lessons and has ended up going for one months concentrated studies in Instanbul.

Hi. I have lessons in Catalkoy with a teacher who also does lessons in Alsancak. Her methods suit me as she teaches grammatically, similarly to the way I was taught French many years ago in grammar school. I would recommend her if this is the style of lessons you want.

Ozankoylu, what were the lessons organised by the belediye, what did they cost and how do you find out when they are running?

goldheart666; Lionokan; & minertor;

Thank you all for your kind recommendations. Tony my friend, I hope you will be able to continue your lessons. I have actually worked hard on the modules during the summer, to make them more interesting & challenging. It may still be a little too hot for you in Cyprus at the moment though (this is a Scotsman who used to attend his lessons with shorts and t-shirt in the middle of February ) Of course you get a discount! The fees went up in your absence but you can continue paying at last year's rates

Ozankoylu; If you really wish to learn Turkish, then there is only one address in the whole of N. Cyprus that you should contact; that is Özer (alias bigOz) at turkishlessons1to1@yahoo.com

The only problem is, I do not have too many slots available because some of my students who went away are now returning to continue with their studies, so I suggest you establish contact at your earliest convenience for further information.
