The Magic of the Musicals at Bellapais Abbey, (North Cyprus)

By popular demand Kismet singers are performing a repeat of their “Magic of the Musicals” concert on Friday 21st October at Bellapais Abbey. Start time 7.30pm.



The concert programme will include medleys from shows such as Oliver, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables, West Side Story, a selection from Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals and many more familiar songs.



If you like to be entertained by songs from the “shows” sung to live accompaniment this is an enjoyable evening in store for you. You will also have the added satisfaction of knowing you will be supporting a worthwhile Charity, The Cheshire Home / Girne Rehabilitation Centre. The price (donation) will be 25TL.



Our first performance last month raised 6,720 TL for The Cheshire Home / GRC. It would be wonderful to raise the same amount again.



Bookings can now be made at Molly’s Bar, near the Pia Bella, Girne on Wednesdays and at the Carpenter’s Market, both between 10am and 1.00pm, or by phoning Grahame on 0533 843 3554.

Wish you all the best even though i can't be there. I remember doing similar things over 25 years ago in Kadoma, Zimbabwe...there we called it "Showtime Extravaganza"! never to be forgotten...enjoy!

I would love to go , but getting there is a problem. Night driving increasingly a nightmare with blinding headlights oncoming and in rear view mirror, is worse on the steep , twisty road to Bellapaise and people with walking difficulties may find it too far from the lower carpark. Is there any chance of a (fare paying) mini bus being provided? It would also help to reduce the conjestion.

I do however like your suggestion of a minibus and will investigate this next time. (I know some restaurants have in the past offered "dinner plus minibus service".)



GRC is the abbreviation of Girne Rehabilitation Centre which is the local name for the Cheshire Home. Hope this helps.

Taxis are too expensive, and car sharing isnt always practicable. A cost sharing minibus would hopefully be more affordable , and it would be appropriate for Cheshire Homes to make their activities accessible to the less mobile without having to beg for lifts. Glad to hear you will look into this for next time - please let me know if I can help with arrangements (no I do do NOT have any financial interest in a transport company , just want to give opportunities to people like myself who may otherwise miss out. ). May I respectfully suggest that when you do you advertise the fact that transport is available. There may also be those who might also enjoy the evening better without the hassle of parking in Bellapaise - and the freedom to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine!



I thought the local name was "Girne Rehabilitasyon Merkezi" which of course translates as Girne Rehabilitation Centre but most English speakers know it as Cheshire Homes.

Many thanks for your enquiry. In all honesty I am not sure that this concert is suitable for very young children. It means them sitting still and quiet for about 2 hours listening to choral music, which may not be ideal for them.



You may like to consider taking them to TheatreLambousa’s pantomime in December which is far more suitable for their age group.
