Our relatives own an apartment in the TRNC which we use a couple of times a year.

A couple of weeks ago when we were there we needed to replace the vacuum cleaner and coffee maker, and found the best buys were in Carrefour in Larnaka. When crossing at Pyla it was obvious there were a lot more police about, and it seemed like some more Senior Officers had visited this normally fairly quiet crossing for the day. Anyway we were asked to open the boot, and told that electrical goods were subject to duty, but on this occasion we would not be charged.

The Green Line regulations notices clearly show what you can and cannot move from North to South, but there is nothing to tell you what the rules are the other way round. Being a law abiding sort, had I know duty was payable, I would have declared the goods, even though the value of them was only 80 euros.

Is there anywhere on line where you can find out what the rules are for what you can bring in from the South to the North?

I was told you can spend 135 euros but only on goods for personal use whatever that means.
