As many of you know lots of builds here take place without a build permit in place DO NOT ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITHOUT ESTABLISHING THAT A FULL BUILD PERMIT IS IN PLACE. My contract has a site plan within it signed by the Constructor and the Advocate, yet the landowner has changed the plans an dumped his houses directly in front of my houses - where I was led to believe would be a garden. ALSO: you cannot get electric to your property if the is no build permit. In my first rented house there was not build permit and my electric came from a Brit down the street who supplied several houses. ALSO: it is a CRIMINAL OFFICE to build on land with no build permit. Contact the - Girne Kaymakamliği, Which is located along the road from the courts. You need a letter giving details of the situation to them and they will SUE the LANDOWNER for allowing building to take place on his land. If it is a CRIMINAL OFFICE (which I have been informed it is) then the Police may also be in

Got plans - will say no more No-one at the office spoke English so I did need my TC friend who asked in depth questions. As I was hoping to get my house completed I did not follow that route The Kaymakamliği told me to get a letter from my Advocate (not sure if that is absolutely necessary). I was given notes on what was required in the letter. I was also told that ALL ADVOCATES know what is required. I have discussed this with Marian Stokes so she is looking into this further.

I have spoken to lots of people who have had problems because there is no Build Permit. It would appear that this is common practice because no-one does anything about it. I was also told that if there was no build permit the landowner & Constructor can do what they like witht he site and you have no comeback. My contract includes a site plan signed by my advocate and the builder/constructor. But the site bears no resemblance to the one on my 'contracted plan' Unless we brits do something to fight this - it will go on and on and on!!!!!!
