I have lost my "best" watch great sentimental value. Somewhere in Ozankoy Very simple small square gold with black face and black leather strap, I think my changes for finding are remote so have decided to replace but everything I have seen is far too ornate and I need clear figures. Does anyone have one for sale - new or second hand - or can suggest where I could find something similar. At the same time my cheap watch for gardening and going to the beach has broken strap and expired battery. Probably cheaper to replace this too. Do any of the car boot sales/charities have anything cheap. = again clear numerals and not too fancy.

Watches are sold on some of the stalls at the Lambousa market and also you can pick reasonably priced watches up in some of the shops down in Girne. If you want the wtch repaired then Des at the Lambousa market is the man to see.

Thanks,, but it is difficult for me to get to the other side of Girne these days, I forget to say "in the Ozankoy area" A bit hard to get a phone out of a pocket with three leads in one hand and a stick in the other. Besides i LIKE wearing a watch.

Thanks Moxie: The problem is I dont wear it often so I didnt realise for a few days I had lost it, could be anywhere (though possibly dropped in Erdener). Also around the time new puppy was chewing and/or burying in garden everything she could get her sticky little paws on - but could she have digested a watch...........the mind boggles. My own silly fault for carelessness and I had had it for 30 years. And I liked its simplicity , everything I have seen so far is just far too ornate for my taste. Havent time to trawl the High St. shops, but Ill try Akay next week.

Ha! Ha! It was a "best" watch for special occassions. Co-incidence (or s....s law) the battery of the cheap everyday one I wear most of the time went and the strap broke about the same time, Not a problem except I havent found a plain one - they all seem to be enormous sports things, incredibly decorated or have illlegible faces

Hannans watch shop, down the road to the harbour that has the Liman hotel and the steps at the end, has a simple, plain, very readable watch, with a leather strap, inside the shop. I know because my friend bought one there last week and there were ones with both black and white faces.
