At 650 tl they would need to put themselves on the fire, empty the ash and clean the woodburner. They are vastly overpriced there are many vendors that sell the same product much cheaper as long as some people are prepared to buy overpriced commodities all that will happen is that the collective price will rise.

Round about 350 to 450 or 500 for really good stuff. Well that is my opinion and that's what I am paying.

thank you suehowlittle. Hippo a van of citrus wood costs 350tl at the cheapest. if you buy 3 tonnes of OLİVE and CAROB for 500tl then good luck to you. my price is the normal price and im not out to rip anyone off. i know a lot of people that sell olive and carob wood and their prices range from 200 for just olive to 300 for olive and carob.

Mendah- I have forgotten more than you have ever known about timber, logs, tree felling etc and I think I know a soft wood from a hardwood and my wood shed is full of the good stuff, don't enter a discussion you know little about.

hippo im sure you know full well how to spell my name so why deliberatly spell it wrong i find that very offensive. you obviously have more knowledge than me seen as i give you the name of the wood and you just call it the good stuff. pine wood also pops and if you have an open fire could be very dangerous. my family here in cyprus have been selling wood for decades from my grandad down to myself. so please dont insult my intelligence seen as i have had to curtosity to respect your knowledge on this topic. please do not reply to me as i have very little time to waste on discussions like this. freindly1 i hope you find the wood you are looking for and i apologize for having this discussion with hippo on your post.

Well first I will apologise for spelling your name wrong it was an oversight and not deliberate. I seem to remember three years ago you came on the wood purveying scene pictured as a young man just starting selling timber. I may be wrong but ?I think as a student. Nobody is denying that pine tends to spit but so does almond. If pine is left to season particularly in the open over winter then if burnt in an enclosed log burner it is acceptable. You can buy citrus reasonably cheaply not the best I agree but again acceptable. My log shed is full of Carob, Olive some Almond a little Pine and Citrus.. The main problem here is people are unsure of what quantity they are buying a wagon load, a pick up a water tank full!! If you really want to become a noted supplier and the first in the industry here why don't you sell in the accepted world wide quantity of the cord. It is a measurement that is 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.4m in volume. Then customers would really know what they are get

What sort of weight would a cord give you? Is it approx two tonnes? I only ask because as you rightly intimate some suppliers' idea of a tonne looks highly suspect to me. I would expect at least a cubic metre of wood for a tonne... my neighbour ordered three tonnes from a Güzelyurt supplier and got two tonnes at best... and what a mixed load it was!

yes you are correct i did start about 5 years ago but i said my family have been selling wood for decades. of course every log is acceptable but of course you are going to have quality differences. the best quality logs are olive and carob as you know hence the reason of being more expensive. yes you are correct but here in cyprus 1 water tank full is sold between 200 and 300 where as i fill my truck up which is much more than a water tank and sell in the same price range. my customers are very happy with the wood i deliver. i deliver wood to restaurants and hotels also who are very satisfied. if this was the problem then there was no need in us getting in a disagreement over this. you could of just asked me. and now i remember yourself, you was very supportive of me on my second or third year of posting on this site. if i recall correctly you asked me to let customers know the amount back then aswell which i did. thank you for your advice hippo.

Many of you seem to be at "loggerheads". My concern is not trying to confirm what seems to be the impossible, comparing like with unlike for comparative best deal but, is log burning for heat sustainable in the medium term, let alone the long term ? Evidently the sale of log burners is at very high levels in the face of ever rising alternative fuel prices. Where do the logs come from and for how long will they be available at affordable prices ? What are the environmental implications ? Meantime, I use my cats as hot water bottles !

I have no complaints about the logs which I bought from Memduh. He came promptly, did indeed only deliver carob and olive as promised, brought me some whacking great lumps which I think will burn for 24 hours and I think the price is fair considering the fuel prices now and vehicle running costs. I will be ordering some more in January.

We have a very small log burner so need only logs 30cm long x 30cm circumference, so can anyone supply stuff we don't have to cut up after delivery? As this rather undermines the purpose of paying to have logs delivered.

I just re-read this as I'm beginning to run out of wood. A cord of wood is 148 sq ft and a "loose cord", one badly stacked, is 180 ft sq. Depending on how dry the wood is, that'll weigh 2 - 2.5 tons. In North Cyprus wood is loosely stacked and the truck delivering my wood is about 6x10 and if filled about 3ft high. That's one "loose cord" and everything tells me I'm getting 2.5 and not 3 tons for 350TL (mixed logs). I begrudgingly got 20TL off the price for pointing this out. Where can I get one ton of mixed wood?

Our nice friend just gets enough for us as well, when he gets his logs and we just pay him for a few hours work to bring them and cut them for us. Whatever one would pay if you did not know anybody, I don't know but not that much!! I didn't pay that much in England for mixed, seasoned cut logs
