Can anyone tell me of any pitfalls (or not) to buying turkish title. I know years ago it was/seemed to be best option now I know it is not and as a british citizen I would not get it. However, does anyone have any 'concrete' (possibly wrong choice of word there) evidence about buying turkish title and forming a turkish company which I have been told numerous times by solicitors can be done very quickly and then I would own the property within a few weeks. I have just taken on a rental in Alsancak but have always wanted to own my own villa and have seen a partially completed turkish title property which I really like. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Using the Google search box at the top of this page, type in Trusts for Pre 74 Turkish Title. I am sure you will find out all you need to know and some interesting articles. Good Luck, you will need it for even considering buying a partially completed villa with this particular deed. As for putting it in trust....................

''buying turkish title and forming a turkish company which I have been told numerous times by solicitors can be done very quickly'' So solicitors in NC told you that it was OK? Give me strength!!! Please, no offence ,but have you done any research at all into the property market in TRNC?, Look its easy, dont buy anything ,unless the deeds are in owners name, and if all legit hold back money until you have title .Do not touch Turkish title off plan on any account, and if its Turkish title from a Brit, do not pay money until you have the deeds in your name. AND forget all this nonsence about forming Turkish companies, does that in itself not suggest something dodgy with the situation. In whose name would the company be in? ,not yours. and would it perhaps be those self same lawyers who gave the advice ,who would ''help'' with arrangements.

It appears that what ever title you decide to buy you may be refused PTP for what ever reason. ?? We are Brits and have our deeds for Turkish title but others have tried and failed. Same goes for exchange land. The only difference being is that with Turkish title nobody is ever going to be knocking on your door, or taking you to court for being on their land.

Many thanks for all of your replies. Paul, I will email you. Walkerscott I have looked at your link. I have been coming and going to north cyprus for years and love it so much have now taken on a short term rental but am looking for something more permanent for next year and as I have two small dogs I am not sure if i could rent a villa. Before anyone says it, it is impossible for me to leave them behind short term maybe but not long term so I am considering buying but if I could find somewhere to rent that would do nicely thank you. I am a little scared with everything I have read but when I saw the t.t. house half built I thought I would ask advice on here. Again many thanks.
