| Anyone got any up to date information on the danger or otherwise of base stations/masts. There seem to be conflicting views. There was a protest this evening in Ozankoy as the locals discovered last night that a local restaurant owner had, very furtively, allowed one to be erected on his property, hidden behind two water tanks. People in the vicinity, especially those with children are very afraid. |

| Everything from natural radioactive elements in the soil, to sun's rays, to your cordless phone or mobile phone to a basestation 'radiates'. It is the level of this radiation and the direct and indirect effect of it on the human cell structure that defines whether it poses a health risk or not. The natural radiation from soil itself it many times more than any basestation you are referring to (mobile phone or wireless internet). You can read one of the official reports by the WHO(World Health Organization) http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs304/en/index.html Apart from their usual ugliness, more basestations actually means less power required(read: less radiation) to cover a certain area (coverage cells will be smaller).
