You can shape the future of banking in the TRNC by following this link and completing a short survey: - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/cyprus_banks_survey This independent web survey is secure and your information is registered anonymously. As no contact details are requested this survey cannot be used to contact you in the future. It should take no more than two and a half minutes of your time to complete. Thank you for your thoughts. Please NOTE this has nothing to do with Astute FMA or the North Cyprus Money Guide which I have a personal interest in but it has been commissioned by a TRNC bank that wants to make a difference.

No provision for a 'Don't know' for last question if answer to penultimate question is no. Which ever bank commissioned this survey should pay attention to updating the antiquated teller system. Why have all that paper in this computer age?. Service is so terribly slow here, it is common to wait 15/20 minutes when there are only 2/3 customers ahead od you. Another annoyance, when there is only one till open other staff members from other desks go to the till for immediate attention. Getting those things right will give a bank an edge. Finally I note that Garanti Bank is not on the list. They have a large impressive looking branch in Famagusta. Not that they impressed me when I attempted to open an a/c. Nobody there had anything like fluent english and when they finally understood what I wanted declined to open an a/c because I was not a Resident with the umpteen number of required papers. There are hundreds of we Brits here who are not 'Residents', Their loss. Sb.

Sb thank you for your feedback. As to the survey and the last question I can see where you are coming from but it can’t be changed mid survey so I guess “no” will just have to in that situation. I will make sure that your other comments get passed on. Garanti are not on the list because the list is made up only of TRNC banks (bar HSBC). Folks please do take this opportunity this bank is listening and does want to learn. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/cyprus_banks_survey

I don't like the questions i.e. How many credit cards do you have? Who with? I don't wish to divulge such info so I pulled out at that stage.

Is this normal practice??????????? My friend opened an account in Famagusta HSBC in 2006, as they offered very good interest rates. He drew most of the money out that year(or so he thought) and did not use the account again until this year. He found there was TL1000 in the account. He decided to draw some out, but they said no, he had to have a letter from his Muhtar and at least one utility bill, before he could do that!! This seems like they are treating him like a new customer!! He had his passport and his English driving licence with him. They did not give him any money at all!!!!! I will have a go at the survey and ask my friend too Don't understand that at all!!!

cypgab very sorry about that there must have been something wrong with the service at that moment in time it all seems to be working ok now. Hector the very questions you refer to were non-compulsory as we wanted to give people the option to skip them, if like you they did not want to divulge that information. Statistically you are in the 1/3 that preferred to skip that question. I would again like to reiterate that this independent web survey is secure and your information is registered anonymously. As no contact details are requested this survey cannot be used to contact you in the future. Izzet as I said in post 4 “There are lots of interesting points coming out of this some of which I hope to be able to share with you latter”. So total publish maybe not but points of interest will be shared. Dippersgirl it could be “normal practice” for Cyprus!!! Thank you for your comments, doing the survey and asking your friend too.
