Hi,

I'm heading to NC in June of this year and will be staying until December. I'd like to have the use of my UK-registered car whilst there. I may take a ferry from Turkey into Northern Cyprus or a ferry from Italy/Greece into Limassol.

I'd be grateful for any advice (and particularly advice relating to the questions below):

Is there any specific paperwork I'd need to complete prior to/upon arrival?

Will I need to pay additional car insurance?

Would the situation be made considerably more complex if I drove into Northern Cyprus from Southern Cyprus (as a UK citizen)?

Many thanks

firstly there are no longer car ferries from Greece into limassol,

2nd if you send the car by RoRo from Greece then you will not be able to use the car in the TRNC, the law doesn't allow any cars from the south to be used in the north unless you will be staying in a hotel for the duration of the Visa and since the max visa you be granted will be max 90 days then again you will have problems.

What is your nationality, if you are a TRNC british then the car will only be permited for 30 days and then you have to pay the tax on the duty of the car.

not worth the hassle, you are better off flying and rent the a car here on 6 month contract.

1. Car not allowed to stay if it enters from the south

2 you will need TRNC insurance on landing your UK insurance does not cover TRNC and is usually only 30 days

3 the car can stay as long as the uk tax before duty or tax in TRNC due

4 you can stay 90 days but obtain another 90 days by going to Turkey without the car go to Istanbul Antalia for a day or two then 90 days on re entry don't border hop to the South it will cause you problems

5 paperwork after landing gives the car 30 days then a trip to the customs gives another extension for a couple of month and so on until the UK tax expires then duty is due or the cat leaves the island C$$ member wintered here last winter doing the same

Happy new year good luck )
