Can't happen without sovereignty being recognised, you need to read up on the Chicago convention first.

This petition is on page 63 - long trawl to find it. Only 71 people have signed it with my signature. Long way to go



There is another petition on there also, 'End the isolation of the Turkish Cypriots' = this has only had 260 signatures including mine so long way to go there also.



Really cannot see 100,000 signatures on either of these.



Also spotted one that said Holidays in NC should carry a warning. Don't worry about that one, it only had just over 100 signatures.



I wonder how many of these petitions will succeed and if they do, do we really believe that they will be debated in the House?

yrret is right, it's down to the UN and it recognising North Cyprus as having sovereignty over its airspace OR the south allowing direct flights. UK has nothing to do with it on its own. If someone can show me otherwise then I'll sign the e-petition.

Out of interest, anyone know what constitutes 'landing' eslewhere?

Can for example a plane land, roll along the runway at 160mph, and take off again, or must it actually berth, re-manifest etc? I am guessing the manifest bit is what controls it, bt this could be done electronically?

I know a handful of the old CTA flights re-organised passengers when they used to have 2 flights leaving STN at about 10:00pm, and one would occasionally go direct, but this was very rare.

72 people have now signed it!!! It doesn't take long and is quite painless. If no one makes the effort how can we get the message across to the government? It is all about making your voice heard - so everyone -- please sign the petition!!!! and while you are doing it you can sign the one for recognition of north cyprus too.

Of course direct, non stop flights to North Cyprus will not happen.... Not with the kind of negativity and petulant comments made here. That's worse than the 'Cyprus shrug'.

To have this matter debated in the British parliament will give valuable exposure to the unfair isolation of the Turkish Cypriots.

The only thing holding up direct trade and assistance to the Turkish Cypriots by the EU is the malignant intransigence of the Peoples Democratic Republic of Cyprus. That's what needs to be addressed in the long run !
