Please check your bills and see if you have had the same problem.

Apart from the fact that the cost per unit has risen dramatically 2 months ago.. Check the part on your bill thats says Dilim KWs.. you are normally allowed 292 units of electric in each band before the price increases, my January bill I was only allowed 233 units before it increased into the next band.

This means after 699 units I was paying 0.65 per unit where as it should have been after 876 units

This month it has returned to 292

WHY IS THIS?

It depends on how many actual days are between the readings... so it works out fair in the end.

It cant be that because every single electric bill is read on the same day and there are different number of days in the month.. and it is always 292 unit to each price band apart from Januarys bill

msg 2 Groucho is correct.

I'm sorry but you are just plain wrong. The number of units in each band varies from month to month because normally the day/date the meter is read also varies. (Weekends, Bayrams etc.) I have checked my bills every month for 10 yrs & have detailed records going back to 2005. There has never once been an error. (I live in Catalkoy btw).

A flat month is assumed to be 30 days from the last meter reading. This will mean that 250 units are charged in each band. During 2011, I did not have a single bill covering 30 days. 292 units in each band = 35 days from last bill.

The days & bands are as follows. 24 days=200 units, 25 days=208 units, 26=217, 27=225, 28=233, 29=242, 30=250, 31=258, 32=267, 33=275, 34=283, 35=292, 36=300.

The top priced band in any month will show the remainder of the total units use.

ctd.

Exactly the same system is used to determine the monthly service charge, which also varies.

If for any reason your bills do not follow these rules, then you are not on standard domestic tariff & I would suggest that you should investigate why.

What I find hilarious is that last month We had all the powercuts yet are bills are higher.... ( I understand why, it's just ironic and kinda sum it all up really!)

Sorry, yes my mistake, I have been looking at the last 4 months, when I look at Archived bills the units allowed does vary.. Just trying to work out how with not being here for 10 days last month and being so careful because of the previous months extortionately high bill, how a 650tl bill..

I notice the unit cost has gone up in the last 2 months but crickey!! this is ridiculous..

for the cost of my food shopping and my electric bill during the cold months think I'll look for a decent all inclusive somewhere.... Benidorm here I come, either that or eat out every night and just come home for bed.. be cheaper!

Msg. 9 You'd be amazed how many people in the UK go away during the winter months. SAGA have some of their businest months in the winter because clients find it cheaper to go to Benedorm (or similar) for 12 weeks and stay in an all -inclusive hotel, rather than pay UK gas and electricity bills and food. I think they can get a reduction on rates if the house is unoccupied for that length of time as well. (this used to be the case, but it may have been stopped now!!)

You cannot look at 1 month in isolation. Your last bill (292 units in a band?) was for 35 days. Divide the total cost on the bill (incl. KDV) by 35 & then multiply by 30. If you do the same thing with every bill you get ie work out how many days it's for & then calculate what a 30 day month on the same basis would have cost you, it will be much easier to really compare 1 month's bill with the next one.

Alternatively you can just do the same calculation on just the number of units.

4 bedroom house uk 3 adults 3 tvs computers etc £1300 for the year gas and electric washing machine tumble drier

we could save more by low energy bulbs and closing doors

Three years ago the house was fully cavity wall and loft insulation which meant that when the cost of fuel went up the bills didn't

last year two weeks in March a two bedroom apartment heating one bedroom and lounge £70 oil radiators lighting etc

The more you use in the UK the cheaper the bands going up TRNC the art must be keeping within the lower bands

costs in the South are hurting as well
