It's been a while - maybe 2 years - but I seem to recall paying somewhere in the region of 1000-1200TL for a reasonably small denture, total 8 teeth. From what I can make out, most of my Cypriot neighbours tend to go to Turkey for crowns or implants, so I guess dentures might also be cheaper over there.

Turkey best option for me in future. Paid far too much money here, more than in the UK for a denture which is not even as good as the previous one which was 12 years old. My daughter had a crown here and the dentist (unbelievably) filed the tooth next to the crown to make it fit!!! That job cost her so much money and pain later - she ended up with an abcess and lost both teeth and then needed implants and expensive bridgework. Be careful.

My sister is a Dentist in Girne and she usually offers free checkup and consultation. Call her up and make an appointment 0533 866 4466, she is Dt. Rasime Basat. I cannot comment on the price vs Turkey but I can assure you the job will be done properly. Oh, if you are a multimax customer, you have 20% off everything Kemal

Dental treatment in Cyprus is no longer cheaper than UK. Affordable private dental treatment in the UK has become much more competitive in recent years. As with all private dentists prices will vary and it is best to shop around. My info is based on exchange rate of 2.80 TL - £1. If the £ weakens then this will make Cyprus even less competitive.

no need for too much details 'the2ofus', catch a plane to HATAY from ercan airport, ask a taxi driver to take you to KIRIKHAN.The dentist is on the main parade of town called KELCE,walk inside and ask what you need done,no appointment neccesary. Be prepaired if you go,this is not a big town,no hotels but Antakya (main town in Hatay) is half hour dolmus ride away, where there are plenty hotels to choose from. the dentist himself speaks good enough english as they have customers from all over the world........not just because of prices but the good work they do,too.

I'm really interested in this. What if you have a lot of work to be done. Do you make an appointment beforehand? Always wanted to go to Antakiya/Antioch. It's my husband that needs the dentist

BigOz;KIRIKHAN is the name of small town where the dentist I took my wife is.Antakya is capital of Hatay, when it was an estate of it's own. KELCE is the name of the dentist,it is actualy their surname and dentistry is their family bussiness, father to son........... If you need alot donem,I suggest take some pain killers with you to use afterwards. We didn't think of this and my wife suffered a great deal of pains. Then again it was 28 tooth in 4 hours.Taking out old roots and grinding the rest all in.This was done friday afternoon and following tuesday afternoon we were ready to come back home.£600 all in,3 years ago.

28 teeth out??? all at once??? I feel ill thinking about it. Your wife must be very brave and of a very strong disposition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What about contacting the dentist. Surely you can't just jump on a plane, arrive at the dentist and expect everything to be done there and then?

Not teeth out .... crowns, which are covers over the teeth. Teeth have to be "shaved" ti fit crowns over.

ok,I try again total of 28 teeth done, some rotten roots pulled out, good teeth grinded and had crowns fitted over with empty spaces being bridged. as for making appointments,we didn't,just arrived there and sat on the chair.Dentist decides what needs to be done, you agree with it,technicians do the work, dedntist finnishes off.Every person in there has their own jobs,no need to wait for 1 to finnish 1 job and do the next.If you ask them to show you how they work, you'd be amazed...........like factory work, all has their own lines. ps.don't expect to see top technology.........it's the way they work that makes it so simple and professinial...........shame we don't have those here in Cyprus, which I put it to them in black and white. The reply was............why'd we need to go elsewhere when we have such good life here........and the ones you have out there(here) are the ones not capable of doing anything here. anyone goes ot there, don't forget to taste the famous 'KUNE

msg 17. Yes Band c covers all inclusive treatment at £204.See NHS dentistry web site. However it depends on what the crown is constructed with! If you go for the gold only,it's £96,thereafter it depends what you wish the outer covering to look like.ie white covering but not sure what it's made of.

dtseda; be sure of the fact that they all have diplomas, all hanging on the walls for public/customers to see. ps.cooking is also involved with human health.............all dentists have technicians working for them..........anywhere in the world.............try before knocking it.We did.

There are 5000 dentists(!), with a fake diploma , have their own practice in Turkey now.And %80 of these people are in Hatay.(You can search google!) So I am not knocking anything, just warning people to be more careful about this subject.

Highly recommend James Butler - phone number above. His villa/workshop is not far from Cratos Hotel. I have had four dentures repairs carried out by James. Normally done as soon as you can get there and while you wait. 100TL per repair. While we were putting the world to rights, the conversation turned to a new denture eventually for me - mine is 20 yrs old or so. For a similar, top of the range metal (I forget the type) denture which he has made in UK he quoted £650. He then fits the teeth which match!!!! and of course fits the denture to your mouth. For peace of mind, it is worth talking to him.

dtseda; I think Yorgozlu is absolutely right! You are knocking it! Below is a link, that will show to you where this guy Dr Ömer Kelce is from, and that he is the subject of the famous "university" educated Turks from a village (Hacılar Köyü) nearby Kırıkhan in Hatay. I am sure you will owe him an apology reading below page from "Antakya guide" (in Turkish): http://www.antakya.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=833:haclar-koeyue&catid=71:hatay-tanyalm&Itemid=198 Furthermore, there are 24000 dentists in Turkey, of which 3000 are apparently holding fake diplomas. The number is decreasing very fast after heavy penalties including long prison sentences were made a law in Turkey after 2004. Your figures definitely need updating because I feel they apply to 1980s This link might enlighten you more on the subject: http://www.hekimim.com/haberler/haber_kaynaklari/sahte_disci.htm (in Turkish) For those who are unable to read Turkish, (cont.)

I have done an exyensive search in Google in response to "dtseda"s challenge. The result shows this Dentist Yorgozlu is talking about as a 100% genuine good dentist well publicised by the local guide web sites and information packages. Yorgozlu was just being nice to dentist Seda's response as "knocking it" - I personally would call it "mud slinging with envy"

bigOz;thank you for bothering to find out.............shame some aren't prepaired to do that. for us,it simply opened flodgates.Up ontil we went to hatay,I thought of all from there same.............couldn't be more wrong(ashamed to say)..........these people simply can't do enough for you.No hotels in KIRIKHAN!Don't worry, someone will have you as their guests. ps.Haven't changed mind of the ones here.

I shall definitely be going there myself soon Yorgozlu, and thank you for this valuable information However, I did make a mistake in my rush to send the post; below are the correct facts: Omer Kelce was the father (also a dentist), but he died in 2010. Dr Kelce who treated your wife was actually his son - Murat Kelce, who is also a Uni graduate and took over his fathers practice "Hacı Osman Kelce Diş Policlinic in Kanatli Caddesi - Kırıkhan" (during March 2010). His number is +90-3263441722 eighteen months ago but I suspect it is still the same. I am checking the fares to Hatay now!

bigOz; If you ring them, they'll arrange to pick you up and most probaply have you in their 'ogretmen evi' as a guest, during your stay. You can also go and stay in Antakya,if you do,ask for 'saray hotel',bang in centre. ps.your above comments regarding the dentist who treated my wife are correct. But there are other dintists as well as trainees working for him. My wife and I went there for some sight seing last year, along with our english neighbours and the cost was 270tl,return,per couple.
