Starting this Wednesday and every Wednesday throughout March and April I will be leading a wild orchid and flower walk (weather permitting) from the centre of our village - Hisarkoy. Start time will be 10am. The walk will take about 2 1/2 hours over undulating ground. There will be no charge. Come and learn about our wonderful flora especially now as the 2 rarest orchids are at their best. I am a registered, fully licensed tourist guide and member of the TRNC guiding association. For more information call me. Tony Hutchinson 0542 854 4329 Can this be a sticky please until the end of April?

Hi, are orchids growing all year around in the shady places? As I can't join this time, will probably be in North Cyprus in september.

re msg 9 The wild orchids here in North Cyprus flower from mid Feb until early May. Season is longer on the high mountains in the southern part of the island. However, there is one, Spiranthes spiralis, that flowers in October/November.

Will be over on 11th March for almost 2 weeks with my sister and would like to go on one of your walks. Just one question - where is your village Hisarkoy? We will be based near Girne.

Very enjoyable. It was a beautiful day and we went through some stunning scenery. Tony pointed out many types of orchid, flowers and herbs. Even found a chameleon in an olive tree. Thank you Tony.

Agree with Spangles, yesterday was a wonderful day, and we were so lucky with the weather it was beautiful. Thank you so much Tony. I learnt so much about the local plants not just the orchids, which were fantastic. Angela

Travelling to Hisarköy is very straightforward:- Head west from Kyrenia out through Alsancak, Lapta and Karsıyaka and on past Gecitköy water reservoir and the village over the top past the Çamlibel turning. Keep going and turn left at the second sign to Hisarköy which is exactly opposite an Army base... This will lead you straight into the centre of the village.
