No, it was what's his name, played outside right, or was it left side in, famed for his dribbling skills, he used to wear his boots on the wrong feet to confuse the opposition...

If Messi could play like Best did after all the injuries the great man suffered then he would be worthy of the epithet but somehow I doubt it....

Any team can buy Messi as long as they are prepared to pay 250 million Euros, that is in his contract.

At 24 he can only get better, it does help that he plays for the best team in europe which actually means the best team anywhere.

At this moment in time he is the best player in the world, big place I know, time will tell if he is the best player ever, until the next one comes along.

Is there any supporter of any team who would not want Messi in their side, I doubt it!

Manager Ron Knee,59, was always a keen supporter of Neasden Utd's Eric "Baldy" Pevsner for the aforementioned title! However, having witnessed Messi's efforts against the hapless Germans the other night, even Ron is thinking of switching allegiance now.

Late result:

Neasden Utd 0 Bacup Town 6 (Pevsner 4 o.g.)

My grandson who is 6 yo began training in football with a local club last year. Normally he was too young to be accepted for training but he is so good they could not refuse him and they all call him Messi. His brother was playing football last Sunday against another team in the field opposite Pia Bella and he climbed up the fence to watch the game. His trainer came near him and said: "Messi, you better go in and sort them all out". Of course he was too young to play in the team. The youngest group is the 8-9 age group.
