Hi Suz,

I appreciate that you are the end of your tether with this. Unfortunately, though it would seem that no one on the forum can help you with the man's email address. And neither can I :-(

However, I do have a home address for him :

Nurullah Ataç Sokak in Köşklüçiftlik, Lefkoşa.

OK, delivering such a letter to his home address is inappropriate, however it might be worth a try.

For directions (now with tongue slightly in cheek) :

- About 150 metres after passing the main Lefkoşa Önder supermarket, turn right ... on the corner is the Kıtır chicken shop.

- Literally about 20 metres from Kıtır, you should turn right again on to the said road.

- KÜÇÜK Aparman is about 30 metres along Nurullah Ataç Sokak ... on the left ... look out for the guard ... you can't miss him ... maybe you could give the letter to the guard

In all seriousness, it might be worth a try. Good luck anyway !

By the way, I am familiar with where the man lives because my in-laws' place is about 400 metres further along that road ... at the not-so-posh end

I know Ismet - but anything is worth a try to get some sort of reaction, been too quiet for 8 years, yes we are following other paths but a letter just gets it back into the open again

Ismet,

I thought the same but then when I put my thinking cap on I came to the conclusion that if this case is heard elsewhere, and we all know it will be, it will show that the AGA ladies did their best to reach an amicable solution and negotiate a fair settlement. It also shows that the "corruption" was brought to the attention of the Government who failed to respond.

Interesting, given the awaited report from SOCA.

Cyprus is in the EU, why don't you send your complaint to Brussels.

TRNC is not in the EU!!

The "government" isn't interested - much the same as if it were in the UK as it is a transaction between you and whatever bunch of shysters you got involved with.

In the UK you have all sorts of official agencies who are supposed to regulate this sort of thing but similar things happen on a daily basis and little can be done.

Even if you take them to court and win your case - they won't have any assets or they blame sub contractors and come up with all sorts of excuses for their actions.

I took a couple to the "small claims" court for non payment of a debt and won - but I'm still waiting 3 years later for my money.

As the clerk of the court told me on the day of the hearing - you might win your case but there's no guarantee you'll get your money.

So the UK is no better than TRNC !!!!

I thought the whole of Cyprus was in the EU but its laws are suspended in the north

Interesting what you say about winning in court Bertieboss. My son won a small claims against a towrag who sold him a dodgy car. The kid was on the dole but my son "kept an eye" on him and when he found him working almost five years later he got an attachment to earnings and was paid back his £1000 plus all costs over a period of two years.

I know of another case where HMRC have put a charge on a bloke's house for thousands of ££s of unpaid tax, they wil recoup their loss if and when he tries to sell it, it could take years but they will get their money in the end.

Be patient, if you know where your couple are and they are working you may get your money.

Message 16,

You should watch BBC1 at 11am daily, programme called "The Sheriffs are Coming." It shows how Sheriffs go into peoples homes, that have not paid court judgments and simply remove furniture and valuables to recoup the debt. Amazingly most suddenly pay, when the sheriffs arrive. The defaulter picks up the Sheriffs bills too.

It would appear that most people just don't follow through when the guilty party does not pay. However the law is there should they chose to use it.
