Chancellor George Osborne is to announce an increase in personal tax allowances in the Budget and signal a cut in the top rate of tax, the BBC understands.

Well that's just trying to play all sides...

It won't last, I just hope the voters are not fooled by this sleight of hand...

The top rate payers really need to have their tax-burden cut (they are, after all, major contributors to Tory party funds) whilst the lower end (tax. benefit scroungers according to D Mail) can understand how the FR (filthy rich) really need the extra dosh too.

Only middle Britain will be baffled as to how and why they are considered so well off they don't need any extra (somebody's got to pay for the largesse handed out) and by the way, they can do without child benefit too while you are at it.

Politicians - don't you just love 'em?
