A 3D TV is amazing to watch. I bought one (Panasonic) about a year ago.

There are a few things to be aware of though. You will need a Blu-Ray player that's capable of playing 3D discs as well. For live TV, unless the program is broadcast in 3D (Virgin and SKY both do some in the UK) you'll need to use the TV's option to 'view 2D as 3D', which is nowhere near as good.

That said, with a good home sound system it's like having a cinema in your lounge! I got a 3D copy of Avatar free with the telly and we were gobsmacked at how good it was in 3D.

The TV brand is Lecla (Hong Kong company that uses the same panels as Samsung) which we have been importing for 8 years now. You can come in for a demonstration. The TV also has a 2D (dimension) to 3D converter.

There are several ways to watch 3D movies: You can plug in an external hard drive into the USB port and watch through there or through a Blu-Ray player and also your laptop if it has a HDMI port for the best viewing possible.

Plasma TVs consume more power compared to LCD TVs. Plasmas consume on average two-three times more electricity. In addition, plasma TVs tend to reflect the sunlight which makes it horrendous for watching in daytime.

I have a 42" Lecla 3D TV and I am very pleased with it.

Primarily I watch content via a USB external drive. I attach the drive to my desktop, download movies from Pirate Bay et. al. and then simply plug the drive into the TV. The TV recognises standard Windows directory/file structures. An external drive is cheaper to buy than a blu-ray player (my Samsung 640gb cost 300tl) and provided you have a reasonable internet connection (I have Multimax 4mb) you can download plenty of up to date stuff from the internet at no additional cost. I don't know how much it costs to rent 3D movies here or even if the shops have them - maybe not because you can't watch 3D on a normal TV.

But beware - 3D files are huge (e.g. Avatar 3D is around 20gb for HD and 40gb for blu-ray) and require the TV to be able to read NTFS formatted disks as otherwise you are limited to a max file size of 4GB. Many TVs only recognise FAT or FAT32 drives but the Lecla is happy with a NTFS drive.

Hi Turbo, it is an LCD TV.

We do have Hitachi and Lecla LED TVs in stock too. The only model that is 3D is the one mentioned earlier.

Just to note an LED TV is LED-backlit LCD display that uses light emitting diodes.
