Bandabuliya

Bandabuliya just behind the round tower in Girne is the place to take a well earned respite. The old government building has been lovingly restored by Tony Branch (an ex fireman from England) and a local Mehmet Ali. I have been there several times and mixed with holidaymakers and locals practising my Turkish. You are sure of a warm welcome if Tony is there. The Juice bar has every combination of fruit and veg and you just choose what you fancy and they will squeeze the juices and make a refreshing drink or if you need a little of the hard stuff the bar is always open. A snack at lunch time for 10ytl a different local dish daily is on sale in the cafe downstairs.

Upstairs is the Ameratto restaurant where you can dine (or lunch) overlooking the beautiful building - the food is excellent and prices very reasonable. Why not make it a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night and be entertained by singers and musicians perched on the top of the replica of the famous shipwreck in Girne Castle.

If you just want an icecream there is an Italian Icecream Parlour with loads of choice of yoghurt and icecream and don't forget to take a look at the little shops down one side of the building. I would love to hear from anyone else who has been here it is a must.

I went there last night! Seriously! I don't know the guy Tony but yeah the music is lovely although some days (like yesterday) they play depressing music! But heyy if you are English, you won't understand the words :P Good cozy place - very reasonable prices.
