Hi, my daughter starts at the new school in Bellapais on September 9th. I have been passed the school and it dosent look anywhere near ready? i have spoken to the office in central Kyrenia who assure me it will be ready but im not so sure.

Also the uniforms were supposed to be on the web site at the beginning of August and i cant find any information.

I have to be honest im staring to feel a little bit anxious about the whole thing, does any one else have any information? thanks

A little late now............. BUT my daughter is also starting in September. This is TRNC and ANYTHING can happen but I am not too worried at this point in time. It's a brand new school and there WILL be teething problems.

Start worrying in September

Chrism

It was my understanding that only the lower part of the building would be completed for September 9th, and that in fact building works will still continue after the children start school until completed!!

Our daughter was going to this school, until we heard this and thought twice, we did worry about how safe an enviroment it would be for her, especially as there is little or no health and safety here......

Just my thoughts.......

Hope this at least answers your question about why it does not look ready!!

mmmm you knock sunny lane and support the new school.... i think Hayran Unwin may be right! Aripointer come clean....are you an EX sunny lane teacher and are you connected to the new school?.... How do you know a "massive investment" has been made? do they have a licence to operate seeing as you seem to know so much about it?

I think the boot is on the other foot?

Thank God I was not a teacher at the SLS.

I have no connections with either schools. But I am aware of the TRUTH of what went on at SLS.

Dear bfcoo1

I have read your recent post and I would like to invite you to contact me direct with any questions you may have regarding our School. As the Proprietor of Sunny Lane School I feel I am in the best position to answer your questions and I can also arrange for you to meet the teachers or/and Head to discuss your daughter's enrollment at our School.

I am delighted that you have brought this up and as a fully registered school we have nothing to hide and would welcome prospective parents having the opportunity to view our results. Sadly it is not as easy as that as there is no public inspectorate facility here like OFSTED and SATs testing available. Currently the law states that ALL schools must be registered and licensed by the Ministry of Education here in the TRNC to educate children (something some schools decide to ignore!) and the records of the these can be viewed at the ministry. If it would assist, please make contact with me or the school where you can see our records and the progression we are making with our students.

My son goes to Sunny Lane school. He started in March and was made very welcome, made lots of friends and has done so well.

We moved to Girne a few months ago and I registered my children at The English School of Kyrenia. Some said it would not open and some said opening would be delayed. Well, living in Cyprus you get used to hearing rumours.

I am pleased to say my son and daughter both started at ESK this morning and the school looked great. The teachers were smiling and so welcoming. The children looked wonderful in their smart uniforms.

I hope they have a good day.

Rumours always abound in this part of the world. However, given the background of the family who operate this school it should never have entered anybody's mind that they would not open on time. Wishing them all the best for the future, from a, clearly, interested party.

My daughters also started ESK today. The teachers were friendly, the school looked fantastic. There was an enthusiastic and excited atmposphere from pupils, teachers and parents. My girls had a wonderful day and are looking forward to tomorrow.

Congratulations ESK

It's great to see smiling faces not only coming home from school but going to ESK in the mornings too.

My kids have loved their 1st 2 days. My son is a fussy eater but said the lunch is great.

My daughter is a little shy and said everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

Congratulations to ESK.
