Has anyone used the new pick up service being offered by Baspinar Car Hire ?

£10 per person each way if you are willing to share the transport and don't mind maybe having to wait a while for the pick up, drops you off at their office.

If you have used this service would you recommend it ?

Can't believe that this post has had over 200 viewings and there have been no comments.

Surely someone has used or knows someone who has used this service.

It is for real check out their web site http://www.baspinar-rentals.com/index.php

Good for single or couples not any use for families.

A step in the right direction.

Hi spireite

We've not used this service.

We have a transfer in with our rental package e.g. Larnaca to Esentepe £25.00 each way for two adults.

We don't always get a local airport flight so its a long day of travelling and we welcome not having to wait.

Dropping you off at their office is not much of a service. You still have to make your way home.

We have always used Baspinar for the airport pick up and car hire - although it is another company VIP Travel who they subcontract the transfer to - very comfortable professional service but as we travel as a family the shared service is of no interest to us. They did offer it to friends of ours who are travelling as a couple but it was the uncertainty of the delay waiting for their "travelling partners" at Larnaca that put them off. But do think the idea is great and perhaps eventually they will be able to tell you how long you will have to wait. Their offices are next door to Lemar Catalkoy.

I used this service at the beginning of April. My son and I were picked up at Larnaca with another couple who were on the same flight so there was no waiting about they were dropped off at their hotel Bellapais first and then we were taken to their office to collect our car.

For the return journey, we were picked up at their office and transferred back to Larnaca without any other passengers. VIP did the transfers and were very good with nice vehicles (although the journey back was done at breakneck speed!)

I would recommend this service highly for couples or three people, but then for four and above you probably will not make any savings.

As a single person this would be of great interest as an overhead Alsancak/Larnaca is a £120 (2way) no.no.

Why isn't advertised?

Obviously needs flight co-ordination but volume would help.

May be that they only offer to people also hiring cars from them (as we do) - hence why the drop off at their office is no problem as the hire car is waiting?

Thanks for all replies, glad to hear someone has used this service with no problems.

Will be giving it a go at the end of the month and as I will be on my own it is a cheap way to transfer, also they will drop me off at the end of road leading to our villa on the main Karakum road which is ideal.

Agree not much good or any cheaper if 4 or more are travelling, will report back on my experience.

I agree with Msg 9, if this company, which I know well, gets its act together, they have found a gap in the market place. A single traveller leaving or returning from the South is financially penalised by the transfer cost irrespective of any low air-flight cost.

All very sad as the monies would be better spent if this Government got its act together to encourage travellers exiting & entering through Ercan and make 'going-south' cost prohibitive.

Since the border was opened post '04, has there been a strategist study of how many travellers are using the South side to enter/exit the North, to the detriment of Ercan? I doubt it!

I have used Baspinar to take me to Larnaca and to pick me up on my return.

At the last minute, I had to go to their office 30mins earlier than agreed, and had a half hour wait at Larnaca. Despite this, I was happy with the service they provided.

Richard msg 12,

The checkpoints actually opened in 2003. It was looking likely that Turkey was facing human rights issues (again), this time over freedom of movement.
