Why is the charity walk extended from the usual 10k walk to this years 15 miles. Have done this walk for the last 3 years but 15 miles is a long walk for pensioners so will have to miss this event.

Is this the Tulips one, or another, and isn't there any option of a shorter distance.

who on earth thinks that switching from a reasonable 10k walk over the mountain to a 15 mile trek is a good idea. Given that it will be held in February when it could well be wet and cold it is a recipe for a shambles. A lot of well meaning people of a certain age will have a bash but probably find it too much. There is potential for all sorts of problems from hypothermia to exhaustion.

I wouldn't find it a problem but when I did the Kozan/Karsiyaka walk a couple of years back the average age was definitely 'over 21'. Apart from my earlier comments, hve the organisers thought about how many people will want to walk so far? My guess is revenue will be down and next year the walk will be over a much more sensible distance.

Thank you trooper for your thoughts which I quite agree with. We have no intention in doing that walk of 15 miles and am very dissappointed as have done the walk for the last four years.

Are there any details from Tulips confirming times and route?

I have not done this trek before but have bought my tickets. It however states that it is 15km (10 miles) on the route map that I was given. Hope that helps you make an informed decision.

Hi,

Unfortunately the original poster has put Tulips in the title but I can confirm that this walk is not a Help Those With Cancer Association/Tulip event so unfortunately I cannot help the queries above but I can copy and paste a couple of links which relate to this walk as:

Thank you

Catalkoy Belediyesi are sponsoring the event I suggest you ring them for information. The walk is 15 km not 15 miles.

There will be someone at Carpenters market on Friday selling tickets which are 30 tl.

As far as I can tell the walk will be on the tracks through the mountain range from Arapkoy to Catalkoy, sturdy shoes /boots will be needed especially after the rain. They have changed the end of the walk to finish at the Belediyesi offices and not the Sport Club.I'm sure they can give you more information than I know.
