| Lor yes he dose and I can't wait to meet him. A lot of members here have dogs but for some reason they do not seen to want a pets thread ? I have tried this photo thread idea a few time. Maybe some are unable to post photo's and link, it took me some time to get the hang of doing it myself. We rescued a very old German Sheppard dog from 44 named Chelsea and this video below is her double and how she was with our cat even though before she came to us we were told she hated them http://www.heart.co.uk/news/today-youtube/cat-and-dog-in-love/ Hope you enjoy the video. | First of all i am not from England.....My dogs are imports from Serbia & Latvia. Dobermann breed did originate from Germany but they are the same all over Europe.. Unfortunately most western European countries banned cropping & docking, but there are countries that still allow this tradition. |

Hi iceman, I also have a doberman and have cropped her ears but the outcome isnt what like yours. she's only 6 months old, her ears tilt towards each othr as if they lie on her head, not always but when she takes an interest in something this happens...Will this change as her ears get stronger? Also are your dogs trained?? I would appreciate if you gave me info bout your dogs..(training, food, potty training etc..)

Saw a dog with its ears cropped in NC last year, poor thing looked deformed, it must have been a home job as the ears were not the same size... Just a matter of interest, why do they need to be cropped? they look far better not tampered with ..

| Abdul My dogs ears are cropped long..this is called show crop...looks nice, but it takes minimum of 4 months care, weekly changing training bandages till they are finished and in the state you see in the photo. How old was your pup when cropped & how long have you trained the ears if any? Both my dogs are professionally trained and titled.. contact me on my mail or mobile if you need advice.. | dizzycows Cropping is an art and when performed by qualified vets under anesthesia, it is no more painful than spaying or neutering a dog. Dobermann is a man made dog and was originally bred for personal protection.. Cropped and erect ears function much better than floppy ears to do what they were bred to do. also they are much healthier than floppy ears... |

Iceman and Abdul. Your ignorance is greatly regretable. Docking of any part of a dog is totally unnecessary (except, rarely, for medical reasons) and in no way improves its's capabilities. It is purely a cosmetic mutilation to satisfy the owner's vanity. Which is why it is banned in all civilised countries. Iceman, speying and neutering takes 10 days or so to heal, you admitted yourself that ear cropping takes months. How can you compare an operation which relieves the animal of unpleasant sexual yearning which it does not understand, and the risk of dangerous womb infection, prostrate problems etc. with one which is purely to satisfy the owner's stupid ideal of how his dog should look? I too have seen many home dockings in this country, just imagine what these unfortunate puppies went through at the hands of their owners.

Nanykathleen you are the one who is ignorant and stupid..stop talking from your backside!! Docking is done just after the pups are born so they dont even feel it and cropping heals in less than 10 days!! During the time it takes to train the ears the there is no wound..bandages are just thereto keep the ear in upright position!! Make the effort to learn something before arguing against it!!

I have undoubtedly learned a great deal more than you. Why, if you are so informed, do you think that dogs with docked ears are not permitted in British showrings, British vets will not perform ear docking, and it is banned by law? Are all the people responsible for these decisions and laws "talking out of their backsides"? Are you so arrogant, in defence of your primitive ideas, to think that you know more than the cream of the world's animal experts?

Crumble msg23 if you just want to get a few pictures on here on this thread then the easiest way to explain would be for you to email them to me at erolz@cream.org and Ill put them up for you. If you want to know how to do it yopurself in general terms then there are quite a few ways and the subject has been discussed here before (try searching the forum using the search option at the top of the page) or just search google in general for something like "share pictures internet" which should point you in the right direction.

Why would anyone have barbaric elective surgery carried out on their 'pets'. Have their dogs ears sliced off right down the middle, then taped up for months to eventually conform to an outdated aesthetic beggars belief. As to dogs tails - it is a social and physical tool, used to communicate to other dogs its social status and emotions, for balance, aids swimming; acting like a rudder, can give the animal warmth, and to keep insects away. By noting the action of a dog's tail, humans and dogs can make a decision on whether the dog is approachable, the wagging also releases pheromones from the dog's anal glands which gives other dogs information on a dog's social status and sex. As a part of the dog's spinal column, the dog's tail is used for balance. This balancing ability of the tail is especially useful when the dog is walking on a narrow passage or running and wishes to make a quick turn in another direction. One has to ask which end of the lead is the dumb animal!

Lovely pic of the dog with a muddy face , and feet, lol, bet he wasn't allowed in till washed! The third pic with the dog and a shoulder of raw mutton is a bit strange! Shouldn't really give dogs raw meat on the bone like that, unless you want them to get a taste and perhaps start sheep worrying! But perhaps the dog doesn't go for walks by sheep or goats .......

Iceman, no not really, just sensible when it comes to living in the country side with sheep all around. Dogs do get a taste for what ever they are fed and raw meat on the bone like that is really asking for trouble.. Perhaps you have never lived amongst animals and don't realise that a dog is a born killer any way ...

The risk of e.coli, salmonella, faeces from a deceased animal released when it was in its death throes; being on raw meat given to a pet, antibiotics and other substances injected into the dead animal whilst alive, let alone parasites and other harmful bacteria, and so on and so forth would prevent me from ever feeding raw meat to a dog of mine. At least with commercially prepared, nutritionally balanced, scientifically analysed dog food, one knows they are risk free. Of course in the day...wild dogs ate raw meat, but they are now pampered pets who, generationally, have bodies that have altered to accommodate and adapt to the lives they now lead. Iceman, everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether that opinion is abusive and inarticulate, or not...

Banu is my dog, she is raw fed. It is a myth that raw food = killer. We live on a small holding with chickens and sheep that come right up to the fence. Akbash have been known to clean new born lambs - and are still fed parts of the said animals they guard. I can assure you that no Turkish shepherd is going to hike miles to his flock and guardian dogs with bags on kibble on his shoulder. Each to their own, I feed a carnivore as a carnivore, I would no sooner give my dog grains and veggies than I would feed a rabbit a piece of chicken.

Banu is gorgeous BoTanica. Don't have photos but here's a video that goes to prove raw feeding does not turn a dog vicious or blood-thirsty. http://youtu.be/UCSvvXf7Xfg Aren't they scary? Both were weaned straight on to raw, the kitten actually went straight from bottle fed to RMB.. All our 14 cats are purely raw fed and are a picture of health..

Thank you AllyTT, I have been a "raw feeder" for 15 years, and never had a vicious dog. Banu was raw weaned at 7 weeks old by hand. If people knew what was REALLY in their expensive kibble they would think twice!

I hope the pictures in this blog show. I've named the blog "Kedi Bahcesi" or "Cat Garden" in English. I've dedicated the blog to all the cats and dogs who live with us in the house, in the back yard and the front yard... I've given a private identity to each and every cat and dog so that people who think all cats and dogs are the same think again http://kedi-bahcesi.blogspot.com/

Message 90. Are these the same animals you are trying to get rid of before you go to Turkey?

Message 91, if I wanted to get rid of them, I wouldn't bother searching for a home for them. I would simply drop them off at an animal shelter. Please don't judge me. I'm trying to find homes for them. The two dogs, Lulu and Cara need homes. Cara, the black dog, was on the streets before she decided to settle down in my garden. She chose her own home. I simply welcomed her. Somebody must have dumped her. She's been with us for over a year now. She's proved to be a great guard dog. I also have a spastic/hermaphrodite cat in the house. His/her name is Shaky. He/she is very attached to me so I can't give him/her away. I will be taking Shaky with me to Turkey. Lulu and Shaky don't get along very well. This house is big and as long as I can control the traffic, I can keep them both under the same roof but in Turkey my space is small and I can't keep them both under the same roof. I regret to say one of them has to go away.
