If you go to the DEFRA website it will give you a list of airlines which fly from the UK to South Cyprus. ( approved routes/carriers) You then need to drive up to the north.

Depending on where you live you have the choice of Thomson, Monarch, Cyprus airways. Monarch appear to be cheapest . Thomson are pretty easy to deal with and will guide you throught it all well.

For permisions to enter the north with your dog you need a pet passport, a serolgy test/report and an import licence from the gov vet department here.

It may sound daunting but the airline and your uk vet will guide you to enter the south, then the vets dept here will give you guidance on entering the TRNC.

If you need any more advice you can email me at sharpeisara@hotmail.com

How small is your dog... what does it weigh.

Pegasus allow up to one animal to go in the cabin with you if they weigh under 5kg. Back in 2008 it cost just £15 as excess baggage to bring our cat with us.

Turkish Airlines from Manchester, Heathrow or Gatwick will allow you to carry pets as escorted excess baggage - €10 per kilo for dog and box. Trip into ercan via Istanbul.

Some of the airlines flying into the South will only carry as manifest cargo via a shipping agent.

For a TRNC import licence the rabies serology test report must be less than 12months old.

buffyvento, seahorse and any others who are interested in bringing dogs in from UK - or those going back !

KAR are organising regular overland trips (hoped monthly from April to July then recommence in Sept) from UK to TRNC and then returning to UK. The whole cost of the trip is shared by ALL the animals owners using it on both inbound and outbound trips. The company used is an established UK registered company , DEFRA approved and the couriers come from animal welfare backgrounds. They are also agents for many flight companies.

So whatever your questions or concerns please contact KAR (0533 869 4098 or email kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org) who will be able to offer import/export advise on overland and varied flight options in both directions.

Fly its faster.

Get your pet passports in order, supervised by your UK vet.

Apply for an import licence to the TRNC goverment vets department.

Then make enquiries with the airlines. We have found jetset pets very good who are the booking agent for Thomson.

buffyvento

cost of serology test per dog is £39.50+VAT, but take into account the cost of the rabies jabs and vet charges for taking samples as well as courier cost to send the samples to the lab..

Iceman,

I agree the costs at the UK vets are quiet expensive, not sure if they all charge the same. That may be something worth checking out in the UK?
