Quente Restaurant - Be warned

Six of us visited Quente Brazilian Steak Restaurant on Thursday night for what we thought would be a fantastic steak meal, not a piece of steak in sight. They served us chicken on skewers three different ways, chicken wings, chicken thighs, and chicken breast. We also had meatballs, and something that looked like a sausage roll, again served on a skewer. We all complained about the meal but they said they could not do anything about the food and that the owner/manager was only buying these cheap cuts of meat and that there was no steak anywhere in the restaurant. They offered us Creme Brulei on the house to try and carm us down and when the bill came they had charged us 10ytl each extra for this, obviously we refused to pay and crossed it off the bill. At this point we were asked if we wanted coffee and brandy which seemed a good idea, small brandy's arrived but we never saw coffee. What has happened to this place if they dont want to serve good food in the winter they should close

Their prices are not realistic anyway, far better value for money elsewhere

It is a very short sighted policy serving sub-standard food, restaurants quickly get found out.

Chunk I don't understand. You went to Quete for a steak - right? No steak on menu - only chicken? So why did you stay and eat there and then complain? Why didn't you walk out?

Redwine msg 4 -Because they did not tell us that they had not got steak on the menu. Obviously you have never been to Quente or you would know the system. The way you eat is an all inclusive price of 55ytl and it includes all the meat and starters etc. They serve the meat to the table on skewers and normally it includes steak veal lamb and beef, so until they had finished the service we were not able to ascertain there was no steak - does that explain the situation to you. I am not thick and yes if there had have been a menu I would have done as you suggested and walked.

If you want a really good steak or even a t-bone steak, Green Palace Karshiaka, unbelievable and very, very reasonable prices. The mezi starter 10tl, wow !!!

Quente whereabouts, turn right at Tempo in Karalanoglu and follow the signs. Thank you to everyone who made sensible comments and for Redwine msg 4 & 12 you still don't get the concept of what the restaurant does so forget it, it is obvously too difficult for you to grasp.

We went to Quente last year,service was disgraceful,didnt wait for coffee's,paid and left,and the restaurant was 25% full,so no excuse,not to be recommended.

I think the name for it is rodizio ... it's common practise that they fill you up with starters and the stuff like sausages and chicken and when they finally serve the "good stuff" you're already done ... but don't even to offer the good stuff is a very bad practise

Went to club Ilgas on Sunday for lunch, the best I have tasted for years, plenty of nice meat, lots of veg, well served, lovely people, on my going back list for sure.

Yes we were there for the birthday (not involved mind) If you turn left opposite the Mambo bar when driving from Girne on the Lapta road, go up the hill for about 3miles, its on the right, you won't regret it!

I went to Quente about 12 months ago. Food was uninspiring, Service was appalling; mind you we were the only expats there; perhaps that was the reason.



What a change at Club Ilgaz. Excellent food and service. Steaks are a must there.

i went to quente, the food tasted ok for what little was put on our plates. also it was freezing in there a cold draught blowing all over the place. i did ask for them to put the gas heating on, but it made no difference. it was not the waiters fault for the service and the cold uncomfortable atmosfear. i blame the management and the owners. i would not go there ever again, if they were giving it away.



the best steak i have had so far is in lefkosa in a place called sabor its in the old town behind the big mosque. top quality food and quality top service. i just cant wait to go there as it is a total pleasure to be there.



i think there are many restaurants of kyrenia are to hyped and over rated, some of the bosses dont realy care what they serve up, because they think the english will eat any thing they serve, and pay for it too.



the good old days of cyprus are gone.

Re message 26, I was told that Address had gone into liquidation but have not been down there so can't be absolutely certain. Maybe someone else can confirm/deny that. Went to Jashan's in Karalanoglu last night and as normal the food was excellant and the prices very reasnoble, nice warm atmosphere and very helpful staff.

Veni Vici do a bloody good steak, and better hosts than Nadine and Richard we have yet to find.

Nadine at front of house is funny warm and welcoming,and Richard is a bloody excellent chef cooking quality food
