OK...the site i've been trying very hard to get going, is starting to gain some momentum now, with much thanks to a couple of members/friends. Next thing i need to get to do, is start a database of people volunteering their time, help, advice and anything else that would be useful. So if you could email me your information and what you can do to help this worthy cause. Remember, we are all trying to do our bit...every little bit helps, even pet sharing for a couple of weeks while you are on holiday would be super useful! you will notice at the bottom of the site there is a link to a forum that you can join.

Please keep in mind, that it's not completely ready, but i will try to keep you informed of all updates etc.

Thank you all for being patient, but this has been a difficult task to get going, but finally it seems to be coming together.

can i have this as a sticky please?

Just to let people know that the Bulletin Board (OK it's the same as a forum but it will never operate like one) allows you to upload photographs and {Sorry about this Izzet} but it also allows avatars.

Tootie, as soon as it's finished, trust me, i shall be flooding everywhere with it!! Sadly as yet, no one has offered any help, but maybe when it becomes a sticky, i shall be inundated lol. The more people that join, the more chance of someone has of getting help with their animals. I shall hopefully be able to raise some money too to help people out with food and vets bills with some advertising etc!

So come on everybody...i'm doing what i set out to do...it's your turn now to help make a difference!!

The more people joining the forum, the better chance of getting advertisers!!

I am curious about people having problems logging in.

I have had some problems with the home page not loading correctly on Internet explorer but that's because it's explorer (the bain of everyones life when writing code) but I have never had issues on either firefox, safari or google chrome.

Could anyone who is having problems either viewing pages or selecting links please mail me to let me know what browser and version you are using as well as a description of what is wrong.

I am in the middle of draughting new pages to replace the existing and would like to know any other issues before I convert to the new pages.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

well done proger1 and DD I wish you well - Just and observation on behalf of some that visit often, but do not live there that want to help

- maybe you need to have details on the side bar how to give a donation or leave a drop of point for, collars leads food etc. so that frequent visitors although cannot foster they can sponser or donate to help those that do foster !

Just an idea - if you have and I have missed it sorry only trying to help, I did see how much it cost but didnt see one off donations every littel helps - I do have a couple of leads already over there anyway good luck

Sienna,

Thanks for the ideas, we have got plans for that or should I say DD has plans but we need to fid out the legality of it first (ironic for the NC area I know), she may have to register as a charity for donations of cash which is a nightmare.

As for the other items, I think she is trying to organise a drop off point before we publicise it.

Thanks again for the ideas though and if anyone would like to try to do any of the above before the site is completely updated with how then e-mail DD or myself at the following or post it on either the forum or the blog site which are linked from the website.

Spider,

You need to click on one of the board subjects (welcome for example) to open it and then either create a new topic by clicking on the New Topic button on the right if you want to create a new post (obviously, I suppose) or you can open an existing post (welcome to your new forum) for example and then go to the latest post and click either quick reply which is just a message or click reply which allows attachments and smilies and things.

Have fun,

Well I tried, but not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I thought it would be a web page with all your details, and then a forum like this. I have never blogged and I reallly don't care about that I haven't, but I don't know what blogging is, but from what I un derstood, that is what you have to do. . I also don't know what an avatar is which seems to keep being mentioned. I get on to the home page ok, but don't know what I'm supposed to do after that. Do I have to register and if so how? I couldn't see anywhere for registering, only logging in.

I would like to help in some way or other,(but not by fostering as have 4 of my own cats and 5 strays I feed every day). Why don't we have a simple site like this one?

Unfortunately this is beginning to feel like the new Patara City site, when it got so complicated, we all stopped using it. Good luck anyway. When it gets easy to use, please let us all know.

stellastar1,

Please don't do that.

The site is about as simple as it can get but you obviously got confused somewhere and when you write what you just have the first thing people will think is that it is too complicated.

To clear it up.

Go to the web site - http://www.rescueuskyrenia.com No need to register, it is just a website

If you want to see the forum, click on the button at the top that says forum.

If you want to go to the blog site then click on the button at the top that say blog.

There is no registration at this point. There is only registration if you want to write something.

If you want to see the forum posts click on one of the board titles either welcome or general chat.

That will open a list of posts, just like 44.

If you want to write something click on reply and it will take you straight to the registration where you can choose your own name and if you wish, an avatar

I will continue for the blog next

If you want to see the blogs then just click on them and you will see the blog and any responses below it.

If you want to add a response then go to the bottom of the responses where it asks you for details to register.

I really don't see how anybody can find that complicated and writing that you can't do that has just irritated the hell out of me. I spent a long time on this and am still working on it to get it finished.

If the only website that you can operate is this one then stick to it but please don't criticise something that is nobodies fault but your own for simply not understanding.

maybe I am wrong but perhaps stellstar clicked on Daisydukes message 23 link which takes you straight to the blog page and not the main page as in your message 29 which does take you to the main forum - I was confused for a second.

But some people find it easier to find their way around than others and need more help - I think btw it is a good site and have noticed it improving everyday ! stick with it stellstar (and proger - see I can do nice ! )

You are right sienna, you can be nice and thank you for that.

I do realise that some people find things harder than others, it was the way she wrote it that annoyed me.

As for daisy's link, it says it is a blog and regardless of that, you can still view the blogs just by clicking on them and if you read them and want to comment it is the same as 44 but will ask you to register the first time.

As for the rest, all I can think is that she didn't bother to read anything and then made it out to be too difficult for everybody.

Thanks again for the comment about the site improvements, I have now added some widgets (One for Kyrenia weather forecast) and one for chatting if you have MSN messenger.

Proger1, when one can read English and knows how to click on a tab - the site is easy to navigate. Suggestion: for inexperienced people it may help to make it clear (with some text "search this site" or something like that) that you implemented a search facility (site-wide I suppose?).

Hans,

have you looked at the site.

Re-read her comment and you might understand why I got annoyed or maybe not. It doesn't matter now, people will either use it or not. I just don't want then being scared off because 1 person didn't understand and decided to post on a forum that it is comparable to a site that every one stopped using because it was too complicated.

I am not going to repeat myself again, it is easy exept possibly for the forum but I have now put a simple description on the category section that should help.

P.S. I am now upset, all I was asking for was help with the site. I went to it the wrong way, but I was only following was put on the board. Now I don't feel like looking because as anyone knows that reads my comments, I don't look for unleasantness on here, so will now take a break. Yes I am sensitive before anyone makes that comment.

C'mon stellasstar 1 , we girls are made of stronger stuff than that , i'm not computer literate either , i can only do what i can do , but sometimes what we post , and how it comes across to some people are two different things , as i have learned to my cost . Don't let it stop you posting especially on something as worthwhile as this . Chin up girl

My apologies stellsstar1 for causing you to decide to have a break but if you are sensitive enough to decide to do that then maybe as a suggestion you should re-read your posts as if you were the person reading them and not writing them.

If you had posted that you would like help I would have given it and not the unplesentness you think I wrote.

I have even created help files for the site but if you choose not to use it then it's our loss.

I am sorry to say that the widget to Ceaser Milan is down at the server end but I believe it is possible to click on the info tab to go to his website.

Thanks for the compliment on the site. The basic is completed apart from the other pets gallery and videos but I should get that done today and there are a few improvements to make as well as an idea that everyone can use for getting around NC.

The chat box system is a way of sending info directly to either DD or myself that we can answer directly if we are online or recieve a message if we are off line.

The chat room allows everyone who wants to, to chat with whoever else is online. You don't have to join meebo to use either of these systems but if you do, you can register your own name.

If that chat room becomes popular or we start to get abuse from outside influences we will password protect it but if you join the forum we will send the password for login by personal message.

Website almost done, forum is next,
